Do I have termites? What do termites look like?
If you think that you may have Termites, the most important thing to remember is, do not disturb them.
An immediate reaction is to spray the cluster with an insecticide. The Termites will immediately scurry off in every direction. It is essential they stay together. There are many different species of Termites. Often ants will be mistaken for Termites.
Termites love damp timber, hard wood and even paper and cardboard. It is important that all timber be kept dry and free from moisture. Hot water systemsand air conditioning units often have an overflow, and this area can be continually damp which will attract Termites.
Timber stored around the yard and under the house is another source of food for Termites. If you have timber that has ground contact, it’s not a matter if, it’s a matter of when termites will appear. Especially with old trees & tree stumps around the property.
It is recommended that you have a licenced pest controller commence a full timber pest inspection to the affected area, and the property prior to any treatment.
There are various Termite treatments(depending upon the species of termite) and can be very expensive, especially if they have caused any structural damage to your home.
We recommend you have a full Termite Inspection carried out annually.
